How does DTF printing work?
DTF (Direct To Film) consists of printing your design in colour, with a white underbase, onto a transfer film, then coating it with a hot-melt adhesive powder. All you have to do is press the transfer onto the fabric with a heat press. The result is flexible, opaque and precise down to small text and gradients, on light and dark fabric alike, with no minimum quantity.
Two ways to order your DTF transfer
- Upload a print-ready sheet: already laid out your designs? Upload your PDF, PNG or JPG at the sheet size. The file is checked automatically (proportions, resolution) before going into production.
- Arrange your designs online: upload several files at once, let the arranger lay them out on the sheet, fill the remaining space with a repeating pattern, then confirm. Ideal for mixing logos, names and designs of different sizes on a single transfer (what workshops call a “gang sheet”).

Which fabrics can a DTF transfer be pressed on?
Cotton, polyester, blends, lycra, denim, canvas, nylon: DTF adheres to most fibres, including dark fabrics thanks to its white underbase. T-shirts, sweatshirts, polos, caps, tote bags, aprons, workwear, sports or club kit: the same transfer presses onto all of them.
How to press your DTF transfer
- Cut out the design you want from the sheet and position it, printed side against the fabric.
- Press for 10 seconds at 130 °C, medium pressure (adjust to your press and fabric).
- Let it cool, then peel the film off cold in one steady motion.
- Press again for 5 seconds with a sheet of baking paper to fix the design and give it a matt finish.

Frequently asked questions about DTF printing
What if my file isn't right?
Your file is printed as is: the site automatically checks its format and resolution on upload, and warns you if it does not cover the bleed. For a check by a printer and a preview to approve before printing, tick the proof option when ordering (5 € incl. VAT): printing starts after your approval. For a DTF sheet, test your file for free on verifdtf.fr.
Does a DTF transfer withstand washing?
Yes. A properly pressed DTF transfer withstands more than 50 washes at 30 or 40 °C, garment inside out, without fading or cracking. Avoid very hot tumble drying and never iron directly on the design.
Which file should I send for a DTF print?
A PNG with a transparent background at 300 DPI at actual print size, or a PDF at exactly the sheet size. JPEG is accepted but its white background will be printed. Anything white in your file comes out white on the fabric.
Do I need to mirror my artwork?
No. Send your artwork the right way round, as it should appear on the garment: the mirroring needed for film printing is done on our side.
Is there a minimum quantity?
No. You can order a single 29 × 21 cm sheet with a single logo. Prices become degressive from 5 sheets, then at 10, 25, 50 and 100.
Why 29 × 21, 29 × 42 and 58 × 42 cm sizes rather than A4, A3 and A2?
Our DTF film is 58 cm wide. These sizes fill it exactly, two 29 cm sheets side by side or one full width, with no waste: that is what makes our prices possible. They match the A sizes to within 3 %. A complete A4, A3 or A2 design fits on them turned a quarter turn and reduced by 3 %; the online arranger does it for you.
Can I group several different designs on the same sheet?
Yes, it is even the most economical way to order: the online arranger lets you upload several designs, arrange them automatically and fill the remaining space. Each design is then cut out with scissors before pressing.
What are the lead times and delivery options?
Your transfers are printed within 2 working days after your file is approved, then shipped rolled in a rigid tube: then allow the next working day with Chronopost, 3 to 5 working days with Mondial Relay. The expected dispatch date is shown on each product page and in the basket. Free collection from our Nîmes workshop as soon as it is ready.
DTF, flex or screen printing: which to choose?
DTF is ideal for small and medium runs, multicolour designs, gradients and photos, on light and dark fabrics alike. Screen printing only becomes worthwhile for large runs in one or two colours; flex is limited to solid colours.
